Excerpts from liner notes for the upcoming CD, Street Corner Style by the Earth Angels
Written by Joe Conroy aka DJ Brad on the Doowop Cafe (www.doowopcafe.net)

Jordi Majo, the group’s lead singer, hooked up with Christian and Joan Carrasco to
form the Earth Angels in May 2008. It is obvious that they know and love Doo Wop.
In spite of their brief time together, they are able to recreate not only the sound,
but the feel of street corner harmony-
To say that I am impressed is a very large understatement! The vocals, instrumental
backing, and mix are all fantastic. There is only one weakness on this CD. OK,
there are two. They are track numbers 4 and 17, which are an instrumentally-
The Earth Angels have brought their own approach and style to the songs on this CD. Even though I have always enjoyed like the Valiants doing “This Is the Night,” I really love the changes made by the Earth Angels. They sing it more slowly and much more passionately. The song kicks off with a great sax intro, and the vocals are tremendous! It is truly one of my favorites on the CD, as is “Look Into the Sky,” which was done originally by the Lytations as a great uptempo acappella. The Earth Angels have created a great instrumental arrangement that fits the song perfectly.
Another song done completely differently from its predecessor versions is “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up.” This song was recorded first by Tom Waits, and later by the Ramones. Jordi wrote a melody that turned the lyrics into a very beautiful ballad.
A number of these recordings were done in one take! During their last recording session, the Earth Angels did six songs in only three hours. That is amazing for veterans, and these guys were making their first recordings!
The Earth Angels bring a fresh, new, exciting sound to Doo Wop, while still staying true to the genre’s roots. Their style should please ardent Doo Wop fans, while also attracting new, younger audiences. Jordi, Christian, and Joan are passionate about their music, and you can hear it in each of these seventeen outstanding tracks.
